Seize Your Opportunities for Greater Fulfillment
Often, tragic events remind us of the fragility of life. If you knew for sure when you would die, what would you do differently? For example, what would you do if you were going to die in one day, one week, or one month? How about if you had just three months, six months, one year, etc.?
If you have one song to listen to before you leave this earth, what would it be?
One movie to see?
One book to read?
One poem to read?
One person to be with?
One place to visit?
One person to forgive?
One person to ask forgiveness from?
Then, ask yourself, “Why am I waiting for some point in the indefinite future to make this happen?” and “How could I begin making this change, or bringing about this experience, today?”
As the time we believe we have available extends, our sense of urgency lessens. Inertia sets in, and we become less likely to do what we say we want to do. It is easier to forget the importance of making peace with ourselves and others. But our opportunities can be curtailed in a split second.
Consider whether you should be doing some things differently. What things would you say that you have not said? Would you clean up a mess, spend your time more mindfully, end certain situations, and begin other ones? Perhaps it’s time to start saying and doing those things now.
